8/30/10: Bales Family Fun Fest set for Oct. 16

This year attendees will enjoy games, rides, food, fun, and a spooky Halloween Haunted House.  Also included will be a silent auction, raffle trip, and general store for treats to buy.

8/30/10: Joe’s Barbecue to offer Foundation donations on Mondays in September

The Friendswood ISD Education Foundation is encouraging residents to not cook on Mondays in September. Joe’s Barbecue of Alvin will be donating 10 percent of Monday’s gross sales at the restaurant to the Foundation.

8/27/10: 2 FHS girls earn Girl Scout highest award

Friendswood High School students have recently earned their Girl Scout Gold Award. This is the highest award a girl can earn in Girl Scouting. The girls are members of Friendswood Troop 864 which is part of the San Jacinto Girl Scout Council.

8/25/10: Wranglerettes to host their annual Fall Dance Clinic Sept. 11

The Wranglerettes will be hosting their annual Fall Dance Clinic on Saturday, September 11 for dancers grades K through 9. Participants are invited to dance at the pre-game dinner September 17 and join Wranglerettes in victory lines at the FHS football game that evening.  More details will be given regarding these two events at the clinic.

8/24/10: New Friendswood Junior High Campus to host dedication Sept. 19

The newest campus in Friendswood ISD, Friendswood Junior High, will have a dedication ceremony and open house Sunday, September 19 at 3 pm at the Centennial Park campus. (the original date of August 29 has been moved to Sept. 19).

8/24/10: Two weeks needed to regulate fall bus routes

The two week period provides time for bus drivers to determine which students and which locations will want bus transportation. To do this, some delays are expected. Campuses are aware of the delays and students will not be counted tardy for their classes.

8/23/10: 2010 Inductees set for Hall of Honor in September

Inductees have been decided for the 2010 Hall of Honor in Friendswood ISD. Five athletes, one coach and a supporter will be honored September 17 in the Walter D. Wilson Fieldhouse at 5:30 pm.

Friendswood HS Head Football Coach Steve VanMeter is being inducted into the Greater Houston Football Coaches Hall of Honor. He will be an Honorary Captain for the Houston Texans at the August 28th game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The first home game of the Mustangs has been moved.

Attention Current Season Ticket Holders
The 'purple' season ticket for the West Orange game will be honored at the Clyde Abshier Stadium gate. The home side, middle section, of the Clyde Abshier Stadium will be for current season ticket holders, HOWEVER seating for our season ticket holders in this section will be available on a first come first served basis.

ATTENTION Athletes: FISD does NOT provide medical insurance for students that participate in interscholastic athletics. If you need insurance or if you would like supplemental coverage, it can be obtained through the school for a set fee by an independent insurance company. The optional policy is secondary unless primary insurance is nonexistent. The benefits received are related to the plan purchased. Complete information is available in a flyer, which can be picked up at your campus.
The FISD Aquatic Center is open! There is morning swim from 6-9 M-F (6- 10 am Sat). $3 per visit or a 20-visit pass for $40, or come by and look it over for free. Contact Natatorium Coordinator John Little by email or phone 281-992-2505.
