What is one of the most anticipated social events of the spring at
any high school? The Prom!
Friendswood High School juniors, Abbey Griffon and Macey Wegner began a program in 2009 called Prom Angels to help students reach their dreams of attending their high school prom.
“We realize that formal wear can be expensive, and with the sluggish economy, parents may not want to spend the extra money on clothing that may only be worn one time,” Griffon said.

For this reason, the two girls decided to help other prom goers by starting this program at FHS.
“If you have prom dresses, tuxedos, evening shoes and/or purses you wish to donate, please drop them off at Friendswood High School’s visitor’s desk located at 702 Greenbriar or at the FISD Administration Building located at 302 Laurel Drive, between now and April 30,” Wegner said.
The girls are collecting formal wear throughout their community and surrounding areas. They are hoping to help other teenagers from Friendswood High School as well as Pearland High School, Alvin High School, and all Galveston County area high schools.
Students will have two opportunities to try on the formal wear. Friday, April 30, from 6 – 9 pm or Saturday, May 1, from Noon – 4 pm at the Friendswood Friends Church gymnasium.
Al’s Formal Wear has been generous and helpful with tuxedo rental discount coupons as well.
