The Mustang Tennis team once again dominated the District 24-4A tournament, held April 7 (prelims) and 8 (finals) at Brazosport High School in Freeport.  
        Individually, Friendswood won four out of five individual championships, including first place in boys singles (Chris Labra), boys doubles (Travis Runge and Cody Westphal), girls doubles (Cindy Tiu and Mindy Tiu) and mixed doubles (Caity James and Matt Kibikas).  

        Silver-medal finishers included girls singles (Lindsey Watson) and boys doubles (Chase Crouse and Erik Linde).  
        Bronze medal winners included boys singles (Conner Callaway), girls doubles (Carson Stanch and Diana Kirov) and mixed doubles (Kent Tollette and Sarah Westphal).  Katie Purdum rounded out Friendswood's winning ways, placing fourth in girls singles.
        Both the boys and girls teams were district champions.  
        The top two finishers in each division advance to regional competition, which will be played April 21 (prelims) and 22 (finals) at Willis High School.  Third place finishers will also travel as alternates.
        "We were very pleased with our District tournament results," Mustangs Coach David Cook said.  "One of our goals each spring is to qualify someone in each event, and this year we exceeded that which is outstanding.  Last year we managed to have 10 kids qualify for the Regional tournament, but this year we have five first-time qualifiers."
