The Lady Mustangs came away with two victories last week to prepare themselves for the upcoming playoffs.
On Tuesday the softball team traveled to Brazosport and beat the Lady Exporters 4 to 1. The Lady Mustangs scored 2 runs in the 4th on a double by Amber Mills and consecutive singles by Lauren Massar, Lindsey Davis, and Rylie Kohls. In the 7th inning Lauren Massar singled and Lindsey Davis followed with a 2 run homerun to round out the scoring.

The Lady Mustangs finished with 12 hits. Those getting hits were Amber with 2, Lauren with 2, Lindsey with 2, Rylie with 3, Kelsey Eubanks, Caitlyn Garivey, and Kelsi Acosta with 1 each. Lindsey Davis finished with 3 RBI's and Rylie Kohls had 1 RBI. Kelly Smith got the win pitching 7 strong innings allowing 1 unearned run, and striking out 14.
Friday night was Senior Night for the Lady Mustangs honoring three seniors, Kelsey Eubanks, Carrie Flores, and Kelly Smith. All three have been big contributors to the Lady Mustang program over the past four years.
The Lady Mustangs were able to come away with a 12-2 win over the La Marque Lady Cougars. The Lady Mustangs started quickly scoring 2 runs in the first on singles by Carrie Flores and Lauren Massar and a double by Rylie Kohls. In the 4th Carrie Flores singled, and after Lauren Massar flied out to 2nd base, Lindsey Davis singled to center, the center fielder let the ball get under her glove, which allowed Carrie to score all the way from first base.
Lindsey would score on a single by Rylie Kohls. The Lady Mustangs broke the game wide open in the 5th inning with Amber Mills lead off with a double scored when Carrie Flores hit a fly ball to center, which the centerfielder dropped for an error. Lauren Massar and Lindsey Davis followed with consecutive singles. Kelsey Eubanks then singled after an out was recorded.
Caitlyn Garivey reached on an error by the shortstop, and Kelsi Acosta singled to drive in a run. Jackie Dubcak grounded out to drive in the 6th run of the inning. In the 6th inning, Carrie Flores doubled, moved to 3rd on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Lauren Massar.
Lindsey Daves then singled and scored the finally run on a double by Sabrina Yates to end the game by the 10 run rule. Kelly Smith pitched 4 innings to get the victory by striking out 10 and giving up 1 earned run. Lauren Massar pitched 2 innings giving up 1 hit and striking out 3 while surrendering 1 run that was unearned.
The Lady Mustangs finished the regular season and district going 20-11-1 overall and 9-5 in district. They will begin the playoffs this Friday in a best of three series.
Game 1 will be at Bay City starting at 6:30 pm. Game 2 will be a Pearland Dawson beginning at 11 am, and Game 3, if necessary, will also be played at Dawson 30 minutes after game 2.
The Offensive players of the week are Lindsey Davis and Rylie Kohls. Defensive player of the week is Kelly Smith.
