Two groups were honored at the regular meeting of the FISD School Board Aug. 11. The six FISD principals and the FHS Wind Ensemble received recognition and Celebration of Excellence awards.

           The principals recently were told by TEA that all six campuses were rated Exemplary and the school district was also Exemplary. Much hard work by the principals, their staff, students and parents were all part of the equation to get this rating.
           The six were congratulated by the board and posed with Olympic type medals with E to the sixth power on them. Principals include Mark Griffon (Friendswood High School), Dana Drew (Friendswood Junior High), Nelda Guerra (Windsong Intermediate), Joel Hannemann (Bales Intermediate), Lynn Hobratschk (Westwood Elementary) and Debbie Smith (Cline Elementary).
           The FHS Wind Ensemble left evening practice to attend the meeting and be honored for their being named the  2010 Texas Music Educators Association 4A Honor Band.
            Because of this honor, the 2010 Wind Ensemble will perform at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio this coming February in the Lila Cockrell Theater.
