News: FHS Swim Teams compete in two tournaments; boys, girls teams win both

           The Friendswood Mustang and Lady Mustang Swimming and Diving Teams traveled to Sugar Land on December 8 to compete against Kempner High School for their fourth Dual meet of the season. The girls won 168-117 and the boys won 154-138.
           The FHS Swim teams have only competed against 5A schools in dual meets.  The girls remain undefeated and the boys are 3 and 1 in dual competitions!

           On December 1, the teams went up against Clear Creak High School in their third dual meet of the season and continued their winning ways! The Lady Mustangs won with a score of 129-50 and the Mustang men won with a final score of 97-72.
           “It was a great meet for both teams against another 5A school with a good swim team!”  parent and fan Lynda Watson said.
           The team traveled to Texas City on November 20 for their third Invitational Meet of the season - the Turkey Bowl Invitational. Both teams took first place overall. The ladies scored 323 points - well ahead of the 2nd place team, Manvel, who scored 80.5 points. The boys scored 197 points to beat second place finisher, Dickinson, who had 103 points.
           Gold Medal winners for the Lady Mustangs included the following:
           In the 200 Medley Relay – Kelsey Castro, Melissa Watson, Lauren Lundquist and Hailey Lutz; in the 200 Free – Kelsey Castro; in 50 Free – Rachel Cragin; in 100 Fly – Rachel Cragin; in 100 Free and in 500 Free - Melissa Watson; in 200 Free Relay – Rachel Cragin, Hailey Lutz, McKenna Harclerode and Alexandria Taylor; in 100 Back – Alana Semple;  in 100 Breast – Kristyn Cox;  and in the 400 Free Relay – Melissa Watson, Lauren Lundquist, Meagan Westhoven and Kelsey Castro.
           Gold Medal winners for the Mustangs were given to the following: 200 Medley Relay – Michael Tomerlin, Jared Maloy, Alec Maloy and Philip Stevens;  200 Free – Daniel Rockey; 200 IM and 500 Free– Taylor Watson; 200 Free Relay – Daniel Rockey, Philip Stevens, Jared Maloy and Nick Bowen; 100 Back – Philip Stevens; and 100 Breast – Jared Maloy.
           Silver Medal winners for the Lady Mustangs were the following:
 200 Medley Relay – Rachel Cragin, Kristyn Cox, Meagan Westhoven & McKenna Harclerode; 200 Free - Alexandria Taylor;  50 Free – Hailey Lutz; 100 Fly and 100 Free - Meagan Westhove;   500 Free – Sarah Corpening; 100 Back – Mady Maloy; and  100 Breast – Taylor Kukulinski.
           Silver Medal winners for the Mustangs were the following: 200 Free – Will Kibikas; 200 IM – Kyle Mitchell; 50 Free – Jared Maloy; 500 Free – Michael Tomerlin; and 400 Free Relay – Will Kibikas, Daniel Rockey, Nick Bowen and Kyle Mitchell.
           Bronze Medal winners for the Lady Mustangs were the following: 200 Free – Sarah Corpening; 200 IM – Mady Maloy; 500 Free – Sarah Marr; 100 Back – Chandler Metcalf; 100 Breast – Sarah Marr; and  400 Free Relay – Alexandria Taylor, Alana Semple, Julia Maloy and Sarah Marr.
           Bronze Medal winners for the Mustangs were the following: 100 Fly – Nick Bowen; 100 Free – Will Kibikas; 200 Free Relay – Will Kibikas, Hugh Lazenberry, Alec Maloy and Stephen Hutzler; 100 Back – Claburn Bradshaw; and 400 Free Relay – Jonathan Crutchfield, Stephen Hutzler, Michael Tomerlin and Taylor Watson.
