Friendswood High School Varsity Team placed first in the Scholastic Open Class this year. They had been promoted by WGI (Winter Guard International) at the National competition last year in Dayton, OH, after making finals in A Class. This is a great honor for the girls, and a tribute to their hard work and dedication to the sport.
High School Junior Varsity placed second in their division. They had been promoted to Scholastic AAA (from Scholastic Regional A) last spring by the Texas Colorguard Circuit at the Texas Colorguard Championships. Their score recently surpassed the promotion score for the Scholastic AAA classification, and they have already been promoted to Scholastic AA for the remainder of the season.
The Junior High Team, in their third year of competition status, won second place out of four other Junior High schools that are competing.
When they first started competing, there was only one other team competing against them – FJH has started something great for the Colorguard Circuit and the teams involved. Friendswood Junior High program is a great way for girls to get experience in Colorguard before they reach the High School level, and they are flourishing.
