News: HOSA students bring honors home to FHS

           Friendswood High School Health Occupation students of America competed at the HOSA Area 2 competition recently at DeBakey High School.  Friendswood students brought home many honors including having several members advancing to State competition.
           State qualifiers are those that place 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their contest.

           In Biotechnology, Prachi Mohile won third place.
           In CERT, Paige Hass and Steven Yospur received first place.
           Beth Armstrong and Kelly Smith won third place in CPR/FA with Emily Scannapieco and Samantha Buerger winning 4th place.
           In the area of Creative Problem Solving, Kelsi Acosta, Alaina Spencer and Meredith Suggs received 4th place.
           In Extemporaneous Health Poster contest, Maddy Bennett won 3rd and Hali Payne 8th place.
           In EMT, Brian Jacobs and Kandice Updegrove won 1st place.
           In Epidemiology, Taylor Blackwood received 8th place.
           In Forensic Medicine, Roel Benavides Jr. and Matt Tyer won 5th place.
           In HOSA Bowl, Amber Bradshaw, Ryan Ash, Michael DiNicola and Michael Burke received 2nd place.
           In Health Education, Courtney Crouse, Marshall Friedman and Drew Jones placed 9th with Taylor Dixon and Raynee DuPriest placing 13th.
           In Career Health Poster competition, Sarah Carrell placed 2nd with Samantha Genzer 4th and Allison Thurman 5th.
           In Job Seeking Skills, Aminah Jaffree placed 8th.
           In Public Service Announcement competition, Samantha Steffes, Keith Canada, Elizabeth Alvarez, and Andrew Mendoza won 5th place.
           In Prepared Speaking, Jasmin Auzenne placed 3rd.
           Alex Canales received 1st place in Speaking Skills category.
           In Sports Medicine, Brandon Johnson won 3rd and in Human Growth and Development, Kristyn Cox won 2nd place.
