News: 3 FISD Schools recognized by 2009 Just for Kids Campaign
posted: January 12, 2010

The National Center for Educational Achievement (NCEA) has recognized Friendswood High School, Friendswood Junior High and Windsong Intermediate as part of its 2009 Just for the Kids Campaign for Higher Performing Schools in Texas.
NCEA used two measures in the analysis for this recognition: growth and college and career readiness (CCR).

Schools recognized for growth achieved better improvement rates for their students compared with other schools with similar demographics.
Schools recognized for CCR are the top five percent of schools in the state, based on the percentage of students scoring at or above NCEA's College and Career Readiness Targets.
NCEA is recognizing FHS based on the indicators listed:
Measure One (Growth) - In Math and Science
Measure Two (CCR Rate) - In Math, Reading, Science and Social Studies
Friendswood Junior High is recognized on the indicators listed:
Measure Two (CCR Rate) – Reading, Science, and Writing.
Windsong Intermediate is recognized on the indicators listed:
Measure Two (CCR Rate) – Reading.
The three principals, Mark Griffon from FHS, Dana Drew from FJH and Nelda Guerra from Windsong were recognized and honored with Celebration of Excellence certificates for the honor of recognition by NCEA at the Jan. 12 meeting of the FISD School Board.
