News: Wranglerettes named State Champions

           The Friendswood High School Wranglerettes Dance Team and Dance Officers earned the title of “Division State Champions” for both Large Team and Dance Officer Divisions. 
           The team recently competed with many of the state’s finest dance programs at the Crowd Pleasers Texas Showcase of Champions at Cypress Springs High School on March 6 and received many high honors. 

           The team received Best in Class in large team division for Jazz, Pom, Kick and Novelty. For team Jazz, they received a Choreography award, Crowd Pleaser Award and were first runner-up for the highest scoring Jazz routine across all size divisions. For team Pom, they received a Choreography Award and received the highest scores for a Pom routine across all size divisions.
          In team Kick, they were second runner up for the highest scoring kick routine of the day across all size divisions. The team was also awarded the Overall Technique Award and the Precision Merit Award. The team also qualified for the Showcase Elite Circle.
          The Dance Officers were named the Overall Highest Scoring Officer Group across all size divisions.  They received the award for the Most Outstanding Officers from a large team, as well as Best in Class for Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop. They received the Overall Technical Merit Award, and the Outstanding Technique award.
          Their Jazz and Lyrical routines were awarded Outstanding Choreography Awards and their Hip Hop routine received a Crowd Pleaser Award.
          The Dance Officers also qualified for the Showcase Elite Circle.
          The Social Officers won Best in Class for their social officer routine.
          The Dream Ensemble won first place medium size ensemble. 
          Senior division solo finalists included Bianca Buentello, Ashley Cupples, who placed as the second runner up overall, and Elizabeth Cotter, who placed as the third runner up overall. 
          The Wranglerettes are under the direction of Kara Baker and assistant director Ashley Caterina.
