The FHS Drama Department is presenting a true life story about the Gulf War and a tragic friendly fire incident, Gunfighter: A Gulf War Chronicle October 15, 17 and 18 in the FHS auditorium.
Based on the life story of Lt. Col. Ralph Hayles (U.S. Army, retired), Gunfighter: A Gulf War Chronicle by Mark Medoff tells the story of an Apache attack helicopter pilot whose career and life are changed by a tragic friendly fire incident during the Gulf War of 1991.

Hayles was the first soldier in over 200 years of American military history to be named publicly by the military and media as the shooter in a friendly fire situation.
Gunfighter is the rich story of media and military, ambition and duty, and it reveals the complexity of professional relationships when they collide with technology and personal ambition.
"This is a very patriotic play and represents many of the great things about our country, such as freedom of speech," Hayles said. He now lives and works in San Antonio. "Freedom of speech protected me but tore my life to pieces on the front end."
The Friendswood High School production is directed by Kathy Powdrell and features Chase Harris as Col. Hackett and Michelle Wallace as Erin Sideman. The cast also includes Chris Hailey, Ben Watt, Lizzy Conger, Hannah Vaughn, Ashley Dinjar, Brian Gallagher, Meagan Holmes, Alan Murphy, J.P.
