News: FHS Programming teams take Sweepstakes
posted: October 18, 2009

Programming teams at Friendswood High School took the Sweepstakes Award at Waller High School recently.
More than 75 teams were represented at this invitational.
The Sweepstake plaque is awarded to the school that has amassed the most points by adding up all the scores of school teams that placed in the competition.

FHS beat Fort Bend Clements, last year's 5A UIL Computer Science State Champions, by one point.
“Dedicated students in the FHS program worked very hard to make this possible,” sponsor Annette Walter said.
In the Novice Division for first year Java programmers, the following students placed:
The second place team missed first by three points. The team consisted of Kyle Wiley, Blake Disiere, and Brandon Goddard.
The fourth place team consisted of Bobby Brown, Garrison Neal and Robert Roy.
The fifth place Novice Team consisted of Cullen Brown, Chelsea Coleman and Joe Le.
In the Advanced Division of Java programmers with more than one year of programming, two teams placed. The fifth place team has members Andrew Wiley, Winston Wu and Noah Kessler.
The 10th place team consists of Matt Mitchell, Ryan Ham and Micheal Rockey.
“It is a great pleasure working with these exceptional students in the classroom and I am very proud how they have excelled in competitions. We did get several compliments from other CS coaches who stated that we have "the nicest kids" and they are always so well behaved!” Sponsor Annette Walter said.
