 Will Kehres, a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology at Friendswood Junior High, was honored with a Making a Difference Award at the September 15 meeting of the FISD School Board. This is his 5th year in that position.
 Mary Ann Betthauser, an OccupationalTherapist who has been working in FISD for over 20 years, was honored with a Making a Difference Award at the September 15 meeting of the FISD School Board. She has worked withspecial needs students on every campus. Betthauser was presented her award by Board member Tony Hopkins.
 Three Friendswood Choir students, Kayla Cox, Haley Holtje, and Ariana Randal, performed with the Texas Choral Directors' Association Junior High Honor Choir at the 54th Annual TCDA Convention in San Antonio's Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center on July 31, 2009. THe three were honored with Celebration of Excellence Awards at the September 15 meeting of the FISD School Board meeting. They were joined by the FJH choir teacher Melissa Smith. The three girls are in the ninth grade. In April, the girls were selected from around 1000 applicants to be performers in the Honor Choir, which was made up of 200 middle school and junior high choir students from around the state.
 Cline Elementary food service worker is an FISD hero. Jackie Williams came to the aid of a young child who had stopped breathing. Williams was in the neighborhood when she spotted a mom carrying a child and needing help. She provided CPR until emregency services arrived. She was awarded an Above and Beyond award for her selfless act of kindness and skill. She was given her award by Board member Matt Robinson.
 Students at Friendswood High School have felt the success of participating in Special Olympics. Many have won several gold, silver, and bronze medals in sports such as Bowling, Track and Field, Basketball, and Swimming. FHS PRincipal Mark Griffon honored the students for their outstanding accomplishments by presenting them with their letter jackets at the September 15 meeitng of the FISD School Board. The students include Anna Griffith, Ben Theriault, Blake Robertson, TJ Sims, Katelyn Sandridge, Lee Crouther, Cory Lowry, Molly Hart, and Melanie Martinez.
