Please note: No more signs advertising events or programs that are not FISD sponsored may be placed on campuses in FISD. The City of Friendswood is enforcing a strict sign policy and NO SIGNS may be placed in city easement on our campuses. To put signs at businesses, a form must be signed approving the placement by the OWNER of the PROPERTY. Then it has to be filed with the city BEFORE a sign is erected. FISD does not allow signs that are not FISD sponsored on campuses so will not sign the city form. We have had signs magically appear on our campuses. Two elementary campuses had together 23 illegal signs advertising summer programs last week. This cannot continue. The city will follow up with $500 fines if contacted. Instead, FISD wants to contact the businesses who have put signs up in the past and ask them to please refrain from this beginning May 19, 2011. We feel we can ask this of you and have you follow its mandates. Please note that our electronic bulletin board announcements for non-profit events regarding school children have worked very well. |
