Alexander Kovich, a sophomore at Friendswood High School, has qualified to compete at the Junior Olympic Nationals Championship in Long Beach, California.
Kovich is a member of Reflex Gymnastics Level 10 team in Pearland, Texas.
The path to the National Championship started with the Texas State Championship where he place 11th in Vault and 22th on Rings out of 100 competitors.
He finished with an All Around score of 70.90. These scores qualified him for the Region III Championships where he competed against the best from Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kansas, and New Mexico.
His All Around score of 73.45 was enough to earn him an individual spot at Nationals.
Coached by Brian Kiser, Kovich and teammate Jeremy Sockwell will be making their first appearance at Nationals.
Sockwell is a Level 9 gymnast.
The event, held in Long Beach, California bring the best regional teams and individual gymnast from around the country to compete together.
