The Friendswood Junior High Concert Band I won Sweepstakes in the UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest March 31.
           The band received an overall Superior (1) rating from the Concert and Sightreading judging panels earning the Sweepstakes Trophy.
           UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest is set up so that a majority of Superior (1) ratings from the three judges in the two competition divisions (Concert and Sightreading) results in a Sweepstakes Trophy.
           This is the highest award given to Texas Junior High concert bands by the University Interscholastic League.
