News: Joe’s Barbecue to offer Foundation donations on Mondays in September
posted: August 30, 2010

The Friendswood ISD Education Foundation is encouraging residents to not cook on Mondays in September. Joe’s Barbecue of Alvin will be donating 10 percent of Monday’s gross sales at the restaurant to the Foundation.
Joe Saladino, a director on the Foundation, offered the program at a recent meeting. The restaurant had done a similar program for the Alvin ISD Education Foundation and the group had profited from the Mondays.
This year the Foundation is not only funding spring grants for teachers but has selected two large programs to help fund. One program, Wellness Transformation, will renovate the physical education program from just organized sports to personal wellness with units on personal exercise, food, body wellness.
The other program will introduce fourth grade boys and girls in FISD to careers in science, technology, engineering and math through a Career Stampede day filled with hands on activities taught by a person in a career of interest.
Fall activities for the Foundation will generate funds to help these two major district projects.
Joe’s Barbecue is located at 1400 E. Highway 6 in Alvin. Eat in, take out and catering are all available and  the FISD EF suggests you do all three on MONDAYS, in September!
