News: Wranglerettes named Grand Champions

           The Friendswood High School Wranglerettes received top honors in their first dance team competition of the season at Crowd Pleasers’ West Houston Showcase at Mayde Creek High School February 12.                         
           The team received the Grand Champion Award in the large team division and was the highest scoring team of the contest.
           They received Best in Class for large team in pom, kick, and jazz and Choreography Awards for pom, kick, jazz and lyrical.
           The Wranglerettes also qualified for the Precision Merit, Super Sweepstakes and Showcase Elite Winner’s Circle awards.
           The Wranglerette Dance Officers also excelled at the West Houston Showcase. They were named Grand Champion Officer Group for large team. They also received Best in Class in jazz, lyrical, and hip hop, Outstanding Choreography awards for officer jazz, lyrical, and hip hop, and a technique award for officer jazz. The dance officers qualified for the Overall Technical Merit,  Super Sweepstakes and Showcase Elite Winner’s Circle awards. 
           The Wranglerette Social Officers won Best in Class for their social officer routine.  The Dream Ensemble was first runner up and the Illusion Ensemble was second runner up in the medium ensemble division. 
           Senior division solo finalists included Bianca Buentello, Elizabeth Cotter, Lexie Everett, and Emily Cain. Bianca Buentello was 4th runner up overall in the senior solo division.  In the junior solo division, sophomore Kayla Cox was a solo finalist and 4th runner up. The Wranglerettes are under the direction of Kara Baker and assistant director Ashley Caterina.
