News: FHS Band has 13 selected for All-State Band

    After auditions at Alvin High School recently, 13 FHS Band students were selected for membership in the prestigious Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State Bands. 
    The following students entered the 5A track earning positions in the 5A All-State Bands: Senior Payton Guerrettaz on Bb Clarinet (3rd time), Junior Blake Disiere on Percussion (3rd time), Senior Matt Mihovil on Baritone Saxophone (2nd time), Senior Nathan Coronado on euphonium (2nd time), Senior     Jon Bertelsman on Tenor Sax (2nd time) and Senior Josh Smith on tuba.
    Entering the 4A track and earning positions in the 4A All-State Band were Senior Samantha Genzer on Contra-Bass Clarinet (2nd time), Senior Brenna Patrick on Oboe, Junior Laura Bradley on Bb Clarinet, Junior Brandon Goddard on French Horn, Junior Daniel Du on Percussion, Junior Michael Polak on Tenor Saxophone and Sophomore Zach Coccetti on Tuba.
    First alternate to the All-State Band in their respective sections were Brandon Chao on Alto Sax and Liz Harris on Bass Clarinet.
     The All-State Bands will perform during the TMEA convention, held in San Antonio Feb. 9-12.
    FHS band directors include Head Director Greg Dick, Aaron Brown, and Julio Sanchez.
