Friendswood High School Band Director Gregory Dick was recently inducted into the prestigious American Bandmasters' Association at their annual convention which was held in Norfolk, Virginia, March 2-6, 2011.
           Dick is one of only seven members from the greater Houston area to be named.
           At any given time, there are only around 300 members in the A.B.A. with the majority of the membership coming from the leaders of our military bands and colleges. The organization seeks to foster the band movement throughout the United States through cooperation with the U.S. military bands, college bands, community bands, and public school bands.
           Dick is very proud to have been chosen to be a member and is excited about the recognition this will bring the Friendswood Band Program.
           The American Bandmasters' Association was begun in 1929 with John Philip Sousa as its first honorary president.
