News: FISD reschedules Monday board meeting over misdated agenda
posted: May 10, 2011

The regularly scheduled meeting for the Friendswood ISD School Board on May 9, 2011 has been rescheduled for Friday, May 13 at 5:30 pm.
Prior to the meeting Monday night, a misdated agenda was posted outside the Administration building at 302 Laurel but was not discovered until Monday evening before the 5:45 pm meeting was set to convene.
To comply with the Open Meetings Act and to avoid any confusion from the community on when the meeting would be held, the meeting was rescheduled for Friday night.
The Board did however have the Teachers of the Year introduced as well as celebrate the excellence of achievement by the Bales Intermediate robotics team who recently completed at State.
Two representatives of the FHS Alumni Association, Lisa Camp and Sally Branson, with the assistance of the three board members present drew two names of applicants for an alumni scholarship. Following a successful scholarship campaign, the association presented one FHS girl and one boy graduating this month and advancing to higher education with a $1500 scholarship each. The three board members were also alumni, Mike Shaw, Tony Hopkins and David Montz.
The winning two seniors were Nolan Harvey and Melinda Mejstedt.
The remaining agenda items will take place Friday at 302 Laurel.
The agenda posted online had the correct dates and times. It will be redated for Friday and posted. The hard copy posting will be placed at 302 Laurel.
