The 2011 National Merit Scholarship Program announced its Commended Student list for Friendswood High School. FHS has 21 Commended students.
            The Commended students include Katherine E. Beaman, Alex C Blomstedt, Kelsey N. Castro, Shalini Chatterjee, Alexander J. De La Fuente, William T. Farrington, Brian A. Gallagher, Dean K. Georgeton, Allison L. Horn, Rachel M. Hume, Ashlee P. James, Matthew M. Mihovil, Andrew P. Miller, Lauren M. Patterson, Shannon C. Reinert, Joseph F. Rogers, Sarah D. Sokora, Alexander N. Wright, Winston S. Wu, Sabrina A. Yates, and Elizabeth A. Ziegler.
            Commended students are being recognized for the exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying test used for program entry.
            In the nation, only 34,000 high performers are being named Commended students by the National Merit Scholarship program.
            The 21 FHS students will be recognized and honored for this achievement at the Nov. 8 meeting of the FISD Board of Trustees.
