Friendswood Junior High’s 8A Mustang volleyball team added another championship title to their season at the McAdams Tournament in Dickinson recently.
The Mustangs faced a difficult bracket with every opponent being of high caliber. The first evening, Victory Lakes forced the Mustangs to raise the level of their play. With an aggressive hitting and tipping strategy, the Mustangs overtook Victory Lakes, 25-13, 25-21. The second day was an even more challenging day!! The Mustangs first match started at 10 am against Fairmont. This was the 3rd time the Mustangs faced this scrappy Fairmont team, and they were not going down without a fight. It was a nail biter, with the Mustangs going to three for the victory, 21-25, 25-19, 15-8.
The Mustangs were set to play for the championship game, which was held at 4 pm. After a long break, the Mustangs started out rough against a fierce Bonnette team. But, in the end, the Mustangs rallied together and won the championship 25-19, 25-20.
Every player on the team contributed to the win this weekend, according to proud Coach Christina Holt. |
