Notice of Public Meeting
Friendswood ISD will hold a public meeting at 7 pm, TONIGHT in the FISD Administration Building Board Room, 302 Laurel Drive, Friendswood, TX.
  The purpose of this meeting is to discuss Friendswood ISD's rating on the state's financial accountability system.
Wranglerettes honor seniors, dads

  Dads in Hawaiian shirts were definitely in fashion at the Mustang Varsity football home game against Texas City Sept. 26 where they were honored as parents and allowed to perform.
 The FHS Wranglerettes celebrated Senior Recognition night, and with it, the annual Wranglerette Father/Daughter dance.

30 FHS students recognized by the National Merit ProgramFHS Logo
  Nine students at Friendswood High School were named semifinalists in the 54th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.  The National Merit Scholarship Program named 13 seniors as Commended Students. One student named in the National Achievement Scholarship Program. Seven FHS students were named as Honorable Mention into the National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP) for 2008-2009.

Cline offers video dance program in PE
  A video led wellness program seemed like a great idea for PE classes at Cline Elementary but teacher Judy Shetler was not able to purchase the program due to its cost being outside her budget.
  What she didn't know was that an act of kindness and community spirit would bring about the program.

Distinguished Alum nominees needed
  The call for nominations for Distinguished Alumni from Friendswood High School has begun. The finalists will be honored at the Friendswood ISD Education Foundation's gala, A True Blue Evening, in March.
  Community members, friends, alumni and family members are invited to nominate an alumnus/alumna   from graduation years 1940-1988 to be honored. The recipient needs to be a ...
Band takes top honors at Marching Festival
  Top honors belonged to the FHS Marching Band after participating in the Galena Park ISD Marching Festival held recently.
  The FHS Marching Band won First Place in Class 4A and had the highest overall score at the contest which included 17 - 5A bands.
  The Color Guard was First Runner Up out of all of the color guards at the contest and the Percussion section was chosen as   The Outstanding Percussion Section of the entire contest, according to Band Director Greg Dick.
   The band will compete in the Bands of America Regional at Pearland High School Saturday, Oct. 11.
Directors of the FHS Band are Greg Dick, Julio Sanchez, Aaron Brown and Color Guard Director Ron Barnett.
Westwood Counselor speaks in Tennessee about Character Ed
  Character Education is a hot topic around the nation. Friendswood ISD has incorporated character ed in its curriculum since 1987. Westwood Elementary Counselor Barbara Gruener has taken the Character Counts! Program to the next level continuously at Westwood and is known nationwide for her efforts.

  Students in Margy Price's class at Cline Elementary are proud to be part of the Watt Watcher patrol.  It is part of the Be Aware and Care campaign the class has initiated.
