FHS Varsity Lacrosse takes Katy 7-1
FHS Varsity Lacrosse handled winless Katy 7-1 to pull even in district play at 3-3. Leading Scorers in the game include the following: Jon Kirk, Senior Attackman, 5 goals (33 goals for the season eclipses the school record of 30 set in 2008 with 11 games still to play); Corey Page, Junior Attackman, 1 goal, 1 assist; Joe Kenney, Junior Attackman, 1 goal; Nathan King, Junior Long Stick Midfielder, 1 assist; Parker Edwards, Freshman Midfielder, 1 assist. Edwards is the first freshman in FHS school history with an assist; Nic Kirk, Junior Defenseman, had 12 ground balls to tie the FHS single game record; Jon Kirk, Senior Attackman, 9 ground balls; Danny Modesett, Junior Midfielder, 9 ground balls; and Drew Jones, Junior Defenseman 7 ground balls. Chase Stanford, Sophomore Goalie, had 11 saves on 12 shots for a save percentage of 92 percent. The Mustangs travel out of district (San Antonio) during spring break to face Alamo Heights, Central Catholic, and Texas Military Institute. FHS Lacrosse Head Coach is Steven Kirk.

Bales students win four of top five spots in Mars competition
Once again for the fifth year, students in FISD have placed in the Mars Rover Competition.
Held
this year on February 28, 2009, 31 fifth grade SEARCH students from
Bales Intermediate competed and placed in the annual Mars Rover
Competition at the University of Houston/Main Campus.

FHS Ag barn to host open house
The 1st Annual Friendswood FFA Barn Open House will be held on Saturday, March 28 from 10 am to 2 pm. Come check out all of the Ag Science students' animal projects, which they have been working on all year under the direction of teacher Trevor Reifel. The community is invited. Refreshments will be served. Student demonstrations and Information about the projects will be presented. See the animals to be exhibited before Galveston County Fair and Rodeo begins. Friendswood Junior High Treble Choir received a score of one / superior on their performances at UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest at Angleton High School Feb. 24. Treble Choir members who competed include Victoria Barski, Jacy Brown, Sara Brown, Melanie Cromb, Chessa Cundieff, Kailyn Dobernecker, Wendy Flores, Mary Galaviz, Amy Gray, Courtney Hamilton, Tiffany Hatrel, Haley Massey, Kendra Moore, Natalie Moussa, Ashton Newman, Keri Palmer, Jennifer Schmidt, Katie Shoemaker, and Amanda Vernon. FJH Choir also had two soloists compete. Kristen Foster and Rachel Slusky each performed a solo and also each received a superior rating for their outstanding performances.
