News: UIL Bands win sweepstakes
posted: April 17, 2009

The FHS Bands earned UIL Sweepstakes after competing in the Region 17 UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest. Concert Band I, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble all received Superior Ratings in both concert and sightreading.

“Our students have worked hard since January 1 on their three selections and have made us very proud. We were the only 4A to take three bands to contest in our region,” Band Director Greg Dick said.

Wind Ensemble will be performing their contest music three more times in May and the community is invited to attend.  They are also putting together a CD to submit for TMEA AAAA Honor Band that was won in 2006, according to Dick.
