The state art competition known as State VASE was held on Saturday, April 14. It took place in Bryan, Texas at their huge high school. 1250 top art students, from all over the state gathered there for morning workshops and afternoon awards. These art students were chosen from over 12,000 students that entered this competition. Our five state students are: Shea Brayley, Sara Evans, Lindsay Barckholtz, Jack Corpening and Tory Treybig. State Gold Medal winners are Lindsay Barckholtz, Jack corpening, and Tory Trebig. The Houston Livestock and Rodeo School Art Competition took place at the Art Alliance on NASA on January 11.
Jack Corpening won Best of Show out of ALL the Houston western sculpture entries.

Culture Shaper Winner: Culture Shapers is an event where art students are recognized for thier artistic efforts. This year the competition for Painting and Mixed Media was held last weekend in Jersey Village at the Culture Shaper facility. There were over 300 entries, 150 of them were in the Painting category. The first ten winners are recognized with monetary awards from $5,000 to $250. Friendswood"s Tory Treybig placed in the top ten with her watercolor painting of a bird on a beautiful background. Congratulations to Tory for representing Friendwood's Art Department and high school with her artistic talents. Way to go - Tory!!
