State Honor Roll:
2005, 2006, 2007 - Friendswood High School named to a statewide honor roll for best performance in Texas by the Just for Kids and the Texas Business and Education Coalition for two years. The Honor Roll Schools are the most consistent performers in educating all student groups over a three-year period of time and rank highest in their individual peer groups, which are the schools across the state that most closely approximate their size and student population makeup. TBEC volunteer teams visit all Honor Roll schools to confirm the performance data and evaluate the schools. In addition to information about the schools, TBEC makes a wide variety of information about public education available on its website.
Chronicle ranks FHS in top 10 high schools in Houston area
The Houston Chronicle 2006, 2007 School Report Card ranks FHS 8th in the Top 10 High Schools in the Houston area. FHS is the only 4A school in the group.
Academic Decathlon:
14 State Championships
- Medium School State Champions: 1988 & 13 consecutive years from1993-2005
- 2001: Medium School State Champions and USAD - 4th Place in Nation / Large-School Division - Blake Binford, Scholarship Division, 2nd Highest Score in Nation for USAD
- 2001-2003: FHS is one of 24 high schools in the state to receive the Award for Academic Excellence in High School Mathematics. This award is given by The National Center for Educational Accountability.
Career & Technology:
- HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America): 3 individual national gold medalists 2005
Fine Arts:
- Band: 68 TMEA All-State members, 15 UIL sweepstakes awards, TMEA Class 4A Honor Band, Wind Ensemble Performs at The Midwest Clinic in Chicago, Sudler Flag of Honor Recipient
- Choir: 41 TMEA All-State members, 24 UIL sweepstakes awards
- Color Guard: 2006 State, JV Winter Guard-3rd place, Varsity-6th place
- Theatre Arts: 1996 and 2004 UIL 4A One-Act Play Champions, 8-year finalists at State Competitions. According to a recent study done by Baylor University, the "winningest" theatre arts program in conference AAAA.

West Point Bridge design contest:
- In the past three years, students have ranked 1st, 2nd and 10th in the national Bridge design contest at the West Point Bridge design contest.

  JUNIOR HIGH
Odyssey of the Mind:
Team competes at World Competition for Odyssey of the Mind after winning first place at the Texas Odyssey of the Mind Association Finals. It took 2nd place at World competition.
Robotics:
Friendswood Jr. High 2005 Robotics Team finished in 9th place while competing at the high school level in Austin. The other Jr. High teams both made it to the 4th round of the competition.
FJH recognized for Yearbook excellence:
The Friendswood Junior High School yearbook staff has been recognized by Taylor Publishing Company with an Award of Excellence honoring its accomplishments in yearbook design and coverage. The FJH yearbook is featured in the 2005 Yearbook Yearbook. Judges selected the FJH yearbook as among the best.
JH Band:
5 consecutive sweepstakes awards and finished 6th in the state in 2003.

BALES INTERMEDIATE
Lone Star Challenge:
In 2005 Bales Intermediate students competed for the first time in the Lone Star Challenge and ranked first place and sixth place overall.
Mars Rover:
Placed third and fourth places.
TCEA Competition - TAGT Showcase:
Bales has placed first and third places at the TCEA Convention.
At the TAGT (Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented) Convention the students proceded to the two Robotics Showcases.

WESTWOOD ELEMENTARY
1970's - Westwood becomes a model school for the PEGASUS/PACE Reading Program and its Math Management Program.
1983/84 - Westwood students are highlighted on PM Magazine and CBS Morning News for their part in the FHS television production by students.
1990 - Westwood is named Exemplary Performance School in the state of Texas by the Governor's Committee for Educational Excellence.
1990's - The children of Westwood adopt 250+ acres of Rain forest in the Danen Biosphere Reserve in Panama.
1994 - Exemplary rating by the State of Texas for academic performance. Odyssey of the Mind program begins. HOTS and CEI programs initiated. Macintosh Computer Lab opens.
1996 - Texas Blue Ribbon School and Exemplary rating by the State of Texas for academic performance.
1998 - Westwood adopts STS-90 Shuttle Mission
1998 - Exemplary rating by the State of Texas for academic performance; Title I Exemplary School
1999 - Westwood Nature Center is created providing an outdoor classroom for hands-on learning opportunities
2000-2005 - Westwood earns the rating exemplary by the state of Texas for academic performance.
2004 - Positive Promotions Red Ribbon Activities Contest - 3rd Place
2005 - National Schools of Character Promising Practice Citation Award
2005 - Red Ribbon Week Activities Contest Grand Prize National Winner
2006 - National School of Character Promising Practice Citation Award for our Hometown Heroes Program in partnership with the FHS Varsity Boys' Basketball Team
2007 - First Texas State School of Character
2007 - National School of Character Finalist
2008 - National School of Character Finalist
Mars Rover Competition:
2004 - won 11 out of 15 awards in the Solar Powered Model category.
2005 - third grade group took 1st place in the Solar Powered Model category

WINDSONG INTERMEDIATE
Mars Rover Competition:
In 2005, Windsong placed 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th in the Free Form Division for the University of Houston Mars Rover Competition. They had 9 teams particpating.
TCEA Competition:
Since 1999, Windsong has placed 3 first, second and third places at the TCEA Convention in Austin.
