136 receive year-end library awards at Cline

At Cline Elementary, 136 students received awards for bringing their library books back on time, every week of the school year.
This is a popular, long standing tradition at Cline and is worth the extra effort when one sees the pleasure it gives to the children, according to Librarian Carolyn Knight.
A bookplate is placed in a new library book and that child can be the first to check it out. This year, only the third graders were able to take their book home as Cline and the library are waiting for appropriate new books for the rest of the grades, according to Knight.
Those will be processed this summer and will be ready for the honoree to check out the first week they return to the library next school year.
“Unfortunately, students are no longer able to find ‘their’ book on our new card catalog system but an alphabetical list is maintained in the library office,” Knight said.
“This is not an easy task and man more children missed only once.”
Knight extends a special thank you to those parents who foster the love of books and reading in their families.
