KEY COMMUNICATORS
Key communicators are parents and community members who meet with the superintendent to hear the latest FISD news and then work as ambassadors to share the good news with the community.
November 12, 2008

The first meeting of the Key Communicators was held November 12, 2008 at the FISD Administration Building. The group is composed of parents who want to be part of an advisory board to the Superintendent.
Each meeting has an agenda of timely topics about FISD. The attendees are ambassadors of the district, sharing what they have learned with others.
Attending the meeting were Nancy Glaze, Terrie Dobard, Janet Banfield, Marie Purdom, Charlotte Hall, Linda Ratcliff, Elizabeth Kaufman, Robbin Salinas, Michelle Davenport, Sandy Calapan, Kelley Waters, Barbara Rhyne, Mary Anastas, Cheri Dundee, Kimbery Montz, Greg Griffith, Tori Ratcliff, Kim Girouard and Beth Stanfield.
Superintendent Trish Hanks shared with the group about all six campuses being rated exemplary, FISD being in the Top 5 in Gold Performance winners, and the sports that have made the playoffs.
Hanks and Assistant Superintendent George Rodgers shared information about the bond and the beginning of work at FHS. A ground breaking is planned for December for the new junior high/sixth grade center and a projected photo of the new natatorium has been released by the architects.
Hanks also presented a finance report, sharing with the group about how the Per Pupil Revenue has been frozen for all state ISDs at the 2006 rate. Budgets with salary increases to meet the inflationary rate have districts working creatively to cut areas to have money to increase salaries and provide funding for other immediate needs.
The Communications Department presented a 24/7 presentation on the many areas of getting information out. From podcasts, to videos, Channel 16 on Cable TV, electronic newsletters, and a system to send bulletins and news shorts to phones and emails, FISD keeps the communication lines open, providing the community and the world with information. Director of Communications Karolyn Gephart and Videographer/Media Specialist Joe Perez presented the information to the group.
Topics for the next meeting in December will be a District Safety Survey and Campus and District Character Education programs.
