FHS to present OKLAHOMA! as 42nd musical
OKLAHOMA! will be the 42nd Friendswood High School musical and
is set to be presented February 19, 20, 26, and 27 at 7 pm and February 28 at
2:30 pm. OKLAHOMA! tells of fun, love and romance in the
lives of the families living in the Oklahoma territory at the turn of
the century. This is Rodgers & Hammerstein's first collaboration.

Blood Drive to be held at FHS
A Drive will be held Thursday, December 3 from 8 am - 2 pm in the Girls Gym. Students must be 17, have an appointment and permission from parent. There will be NO student walk-ins. Teachers, staff and parents do not need an appointment and may walk to the front of the line. Please eat a LARGE breakfast and drink plenty of fluids. Area Scout group hosts, performs FISD schools flag retirement
The United States Flag Code states: "The flag, when it is in such
condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be

3 FHS seniors named National Achievement participants
Three FHS Seniors have been named among 3100 outstanding National
Achievement Scholarship Program participants being referred to U.S.
colleges and universities. The National Achievement® Scholarship Program is an academic
competition established in 1964 to provide recognition for outstanding
Black American high school students. The three named National Achievement participants include >>

Twelve freshmen Band members earned positions in the Freshman Region Band.
The students include Rikki Patrick (8th chair flute), Rachel
Langdon (9th chair clarinet), Stephen Hahn (5th chair trumpet) and Jacob
Gruener (9th chair trumpet).
Two horn players were selected. Haley Long (6th chair) and Helena Kaminsky (10th chair) were named to Region Band.
Trombone
musicians accepted include Blake Hees (6th chair) and Bryan Holcomb
(7th chair). Zach Cocetti (2nd chair tuba) and Aaron Holloway (5th
chair tuba) were selected as well as Garret Bynum (5th chair
percussion) and Chris Speck (8th chair percussion).
Band directors are Greg Dick, Julio Sanchez and Aaron Brown.

09-10 Swimming & Diving Season
The FHS Swimming & Diving Team traveled to the Lamar Consolidated
Invitational meet November 7 and swam really well despite missing
several team members who were taking the SAT test or on the disabled
list due to colds or injury.
