Four FHS Swimmers Achieve All American Honors
The National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association has named
four Friendswood High School swimmers to the Academic All American
Team and one FHS swimmer to the 2009-2010 Swimming All American Team. FHS Mustang swimmer Alec Maloy and Lady Mustang swimmers Lauren
Lundquist, McKenna Harclerode and Melissa Watson, have all achieved the
title of Academic All American. The Academic All American honor is given to graduating seniors
who have maintained a minimum GPA of 3.750 on a 4 point scale for seven
semesters and have lettered in swimming, diving, or water polo their

Windsong Intermediate School receives 2010 Best of Friendswood Award
Windsong Intermediate School has been selected for the 2010 Best of
Friendswood Award in the Schools category by the U.S. Commerce
Association (USCA). The USCA "Best of Local Business" Award Program recognizes
outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the
USCA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional

Windsong receives check
Windsong Intermediate Nelda Guerra and Assistant Principal Jan Lane were presented with an $88,500 check from Windsong's PTO recently. The check was the culmination of proceeds from Windsong's Stallion Stampede as well as various fundraisers held throughout the year. The faculty and staff of Windsong would like to thank the PTO for their hard work throughout the year which will help us to enhance the technology program at Windsong as well as various other improvements for our school! |
Windsong Librarian hosts Battle of the Books, champions announced
Windsong Intermediate held their 2010 Battle of the Books on Friday, May 7. Sponsored by the Windsong Library, the event is historical and
librarian Susan Brisbay followed its history in designing her event. The Battle of the Books began in the early 1930s as a radio
program sponsored by the Chicago Public Schools and the Carson Pirie
Scott Department Store. In the 1970s, Joanne Kelly, a former
participant and school librarian transformed the program into a reading
