This was the theme for the Ninth Annual School Bus Safety Speech Contest hosted by the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation at the Region 12 Education Service Center in Waco.
Two Friendswood High School students were participants at the State level contest. Sophomore Johnathan Moore and Junior Kristi Board both placed second in their grade level category and both received $500 US Savings Bonds.

Of the 56 students who qualified, 47 contestants from across the state presented speeches on the listed topic. These students represented 39 school districts located in 16 Regional Education Service Center areas. There were 110 competitors at the Regional level. Each of the 56 regional winners received a $100 US Savings Bond for advancing from their regional contest to the state competition.
