Three Friendswood Choir students, Kayla Cox, Haley Holtje, and Ariana Randal, performed with the Texas Choral Directors' Association Junior High Honor Choir at the 54th Annual TCDA Convention in San Antonio's Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center on July 31, 2009.
            In April, the girls were selected from around 1000 applicants to be performers in the Honor Choir, which was made up of 200 middle school and junior high choir students from around the state.

            The highlight of the concert was their premiere performance of a new choral piece by Earlene Rentz, entitled The Oak Tree. Melissa Smith, director of the Friendswood JH Choirs, was fortunate to see the girls perform, and wishes them congratulations and best of luck as they enter FHS Choir under the direction of Janwin Overstreet-Goode.
