News: FEF Distinguished Alumni to be honored
posted: December 8, 2009

Six Distinguished Alumni have been named for 2010. The six which include one Honorary Alumni will be honored at the Luv Ya Blue gala Feb. 13 sponsored by the Friendswood ISD Education Foundation.
The gala will be held at the Hotel ZaZa in Houston and will feature the program, dinner and dancing on Valentine weekend.

The Distinguished Alumni include Patrick Buzzard (Class of 1988), Mark Griffon (Class of 1978), Glenda McDonald (Class of 1973), Chris Norton (Class of 1964), Dannielle Thomas (Class of 1981), and Honorary Alumnus Dr. Richard Conway.
Patrick Buzzard will definitely travel the farthest to return to his alma mater. He currently lives and works in Moscow in the Russian Federation. He is with NASA and serves as the NASA head of the business office of the American Embassy.
Mark Griffon never received a note that he was in trouble and had to go to the principal’s office but eventually that is where he lives. This time he IS the principal. Griffon left FISD for Texas Tech only to graduate and return to FISD to work as a young science teacher and coach. He served as Assistant Principal, ascended to the Administration Building as an assistant to the superintendent and then principal of Friendswood High School.
Glenda McDonald also returned to FHS for a while, working as a coach, teacher and after another degree, a counselor. She has since left the field of education and attended seminary, working as a hospital chaplain. After eight years at MD Anderson Cancer Centers on the Bone Marrow Transplant unit, she has moved to her “dream job” as the Chaplain Manager of Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Chris Norton worked in the oil industry for many years. Then 13 years ago he gave it up to go to seminary and become a Methodist minister. He returned to First United Methodist Church as an associate pastor for several years before serving a church in Cameron, Texas. Recently he and his family moved to the Dairy Ashford area in Houston.
Dannielle Thomas lives in Los Angeles, California and after being trained by the best, opened her own company and entered the entertainment business world. She personally represents and manages the careers of such stars as Kristen Chenoweth, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Bette Midler, and Matthew Modine, to name a few.
Dr. Richard Conway was team doctor for many years and assisted FISD athletes. He is an avid FISD supporter and he and his family have remained true blue fans. For his work and continued support, Dr. Conway is being named an Honorary Alumnus.
