News: Swimmers start season in Brazoswood

           For the first meet in 2010 the FHS Swimming & Diving Teams traveled to Lake Jackson for the Brazoswood Invitational Meet. On Friday night January 8 FHS divers got the meet off to a great start.  Alysa Van Vooren took first place with a score of 181.95 and Grace Moore took fourth place with a score of 129.55.

           On Saturday morning Coach John Little, Coach Sophie Wostal and the swimmers pulled out of the school parking lot at 5:30 am and headed south for the swimming portion of the meet. By the end of the day the combined Mustang teams had won the meet with an overall score of 958 points, well ahead of the 5A Austin High School Bulldogs who finished second with a score of 826.50.
Individually, the girls swim team earned first place honors with 566 points and the boys team took second place with 392 points.
           Lady Mustang Gold Medal winners included the following: Diving - Alysa Van Vooren; 200 Medley Relay - Rachel Cragin, Melissa Watson, Meagan Westhoven and Lauren Lundquist; 50 Free and 100 Fly - Rachel Cragin; 200 Free Relay - Rachel Cragin, McKenna Harclerode, Lauren Lundquist and Hailey Lutz; and  400 Free Relay - Melissa Watson, Meagan Westhoven, Kelsey Castro and McKenna Harclerode.
             Silver Medalist was 100 Breast - Melissa Watson.
             Bronze Medals were earned by 200 Free - Melissa Watson; 200 IM - Meagan Westhoven; 50 Free - Hailey Lutz; 100 Free - McKenna Harclerode; 500 Free - Alexandria Taylor; and 100 Breast - Meagan Westhoven.
             Mustang Bronze Medal winners were the following:  500 Free - Taylor Watson; 100 Back - Michael Tomerlin; and 400 Free Relay - Will Kibikas, Alec Maloy, Philip Stevens and Nick Bowen.
