Spelling Bees are happening throughout FISD. Winners will now advance to a Regional Spelling Bee for Galveston and Chambers Counties in February.
Asking for definitions, example sentences, and repeated pronunciations, students gave their best effort as interesting words were submitted to them to spell.

When it came down to the final two spellers at Westwood Elementary, Dylan Garlinge and Thomas Hamre, it was Thomas who emerged as the final contestant standing, winning with the word "tolerant."
At Westwood, 16 students participated.
Aaron Garcia won the Cline spelling bee with the word, “encore.” Aidan O’Donnell won second place. At Cline, 21 third graders participated.
Sevren Lab at Bales Intermediate won with the winning word, “gnome.” Felicity Yiu came in at second place.
Oliver Jones and Brenton Anderson won first and second place respectively in Windsong's Spelling Bee, The winning word was “momentum.”
At Friendswood Junior High, Julia Conger received first place with Jacqueline Moore second and Thomas Reynolds third place.
