FHS Softball is in its 2nd week and according to Coach Kevin Parr, the week did not go according to plan. The Lady Mustangs traveled to Manvel hoping to knock off one of the top area teams, but did not play well and came out on the losing end 6-0.
The Lady Mustangs committed six errors in the contest that allowed the game to get out of hand. Kelsey Eubanks and Missy Jesionowski were two of the bright spots with each collecting a hit for the Mustangs. Kelly Smith took the loss striking out 6 while allowing the 6 runs with only 3 of those being earned. |

On Friday the Lady Mustangs got a win against Brazosport 7-1.
“It was girls little league night at the ballpark, which helped motivate the girls,” Parr said.
The Lady Mustangs had 12 hits. Everyone in the line-up had at least one hit with the big blow being a 2-run double in the 4th inning by freshman Tori Homer. At the time the score was 2-1 and it helped open the gates for the Lady Mustangs.
Lauren Massar also hit a 2-run double in the 6th to close out the scoring for the Lady Mustangs. Others contributing to the hit parade were Amber Mills with 3 hits and one of those being a triple, scoring 2 runs, Carrie Flores with a hit and a run, Massar with 2 hits, and 3 RBI's, Lindsey Davis with a hit, Rylie Kohls with a hit, Kelsey Eubanks with a hit and a run, Kelsey Acosta with a hit, and Missy Jesionowski with a hit.
Kelly Smith got the win going the distance. Kelly finished with 13 strikeouts while giving up 6 hits and 1 run, being earned.
The Lady Mustangs are now 14-9-1 overall and 3-3 in District.
“This is a big week for the Lady Mustangs with games at La Marque on Tuesday, and at Texas City on Thursday,” Parr said.
The Offensive player of the week is Lauren Massar with her 2 hits and 3 RBI's. The Defensive player of the week is Kelly Smith for her 13 strikeouts against Brazosport. |
