Science Fair participants from Friendswood Junior High not only competed at the Galveston Science Fair recently but placed in a variety of categories. Out of 18 competitors, 15 earned awards, according to Science Fair sponsor Suzanne Humble-Davies.
Cash awards were given to the following: $50 to first place, $25 to second place recipients and $15 to third place winners. FJH students received a total of $620 in cash prizes.

In Behavioral Science/ Social Sciences category,Honorable Mention was won by Pahno Georgeton and Benjamin Burdick, with Julie Rogers winning second place.
In Physics, Corey Landon won first place, Derek Janak second and Evan Roper third place.
In Earth/Space & Environment category, Jamie McCullough won first place, Julia Conger received third place, and Cooper Dixon won Honorable Mention.
In Zoology, Elizabeth Buzbee received second place, Kelly Janak third and Shanika Silva Honorable Mention.
Katherine Harclerode won second place in Botany.
In Medicine and Health category, Garrett Benson won second place.
Taylor Cubbage won the prestigious Naval Award.
In Life Science Division, Garrett Benson won both first place and the Sea Camp Award which is valued at approximately $860. Also in this category, Jamie McCullough won second place and Katherine Harclerode placed fifth.
In the Physical Science Division, Derek Janak received first place and Corey Landon won second place.
Nine of the 15 winners have signed up to advance to the Houston Science Fair. |
