David Aaron Alexander, who will graduate from Friendswood High School May 30, has accomplished something, which is very rare. David has never missed a day of school beginning with his first day of Kindergarten. There has never been even one day where he had an absence for being sick or just did not feel like going to school or was away where he could not attend.
The only days that he was not in the actual school building were days where he went on school outings like band trips or other class trips that were school sponsored events. This is approximately 2,340 days without a single absence. |

David is an outstanding student at Friendswood High School and has maintained a very high grade average and even completed some college credit courses along the way. He plays trumpet in the award winning Friendswood High School Marching Band, the Wind Ensemble Band and the Jazz Band. This has taken considerable extracurricular time and effort. These bands have won top state competitions and were the best in Texas Wind Ensemble Band this year.
While maintaining perfect attendance and his high level of participation in school band activities, he has also competed and won science fair competitions including placing second in the Houston Science Fair and first place at both the Galveston and local school fairs with special awards from Jacobs Engineering. And, additionally, he is just about to achieve another goal, which he has worked on since he was about 5 years old. He is going to complete his training for Black Belt in the American Society of Karate.
All of this outside activity and school related activity have never dampened his desire to always be at school when ever school was in session. He really enjoys being present when needed and giving his education his all-out effort, no slacking for David.
David will attend Texas Tech University in Lubbock to begin studying Engineering. When completed, he will be a third generation engineer just like his father and grandfather before him.
David's goals are really simple: do the best possible, give it 100 percent effort, never give up, and do "whatever it takes" to accomplish his goals.
Who knows? He may just continue this perfect attendance all the way through college! |
