This past weekend, the Lady Mustangs were defeated by not only the weather, but also the Lady Indians from Santa Fe 8-2.
Friday night was to be game 1 of the best of three series, but after the teams warmed up and were ready to play a storm came through that forced the cancellation of the game.  That meant the series turned into a 1 game playoff that was scheduled to start at 9:30 am at Santa Fe.

The game did not actually get started until around 11 am, because of rain.  The game was tied 0-0 until the top of the 3rd when Santa Fe would score first. The Lady Indians would score five times on three hits an error and a walk.
The Lady Mustangs would answer in the bottom of the third by scoring two runs on three walks, a single, and a error.  In the top of the fourth, the Lady Indians would answer with two more runs.  Kelly Smith would also leave the game with a pulled back muscle.
While Lauren Massar was warming up a rainstorm swept through delaying the game around 1:00 pm.  The game was pushed to 4 pm to resume where we had left off.  Kelly tried to warmup, but could not go, and Lauren filled in and did a very good job of holding Santa Fe in check.  The Lady Mustangs would get runners in scoring position, but could not come up with a key hit to drive in those runs.
Carrie Flores would reach base three times on two walks and a hit.  She would also score a run on an error.  Tori Homer would score the other run after a walk.  Rylie Kohls would have 2 hits a single and a double, and drive in a run.  Lauren Massar would have the other hit for the Lady Mustangs.  Kelly would take the loss giving up 7 runs 5 of them earned while striking out 3.
The Lady Mustangs will finish the season has Regional Quarterfinalist and a overall record of 24-13-1, and tied for 3rd place in district with a mark of 9-5.  They truly had a great year .
Some of the individual accomplishments are Kelly Smith breaking her own single season record of 307 with 330.  She also broke the career strikeout record that Kirstie Curry held from 2005-2008 of 586 with 659.  Lindsey Davis would break the season hits record of 43 with 45.  She would also hit 4 homeruns on the year.
Amber Mills would break the singles record for a season of 30 with 38, which was held by our own Coach Kassie Pustejowsky and Sara Rachel. Amber would also finish with 44 hits on the year.  Rylie Kohls would lead the team in RBI's, and doubles with 28 and 12 respectively.  She was one shy of tying the doubles record for a season here at FHS.  She also hit 3 homeruns.
Lauren Massar would finish with 11 doubles on the year.  At our Banquet last week we gave out 4 awards that were voted on by the girls.
The MVP goes to Kelly Smith, the Offensive Player of the Year goes to Lindsey Davis, the Defensive Player of the Year goes to Kelly Smith, and the Mustang Heart Award goes to Sabrina Yates.
“It was truly a remarkable season and one in which that we can all be proud,” Coach Parr said.
