News: FHS, FJH participate, win medals in Special Olympics

        Special Olympics was held at Clear Creek High School May 1.          Friendswood Junior High had three students who represented their school and Friendswood High School had four.
        FJH students Cristopher Martinez, Jay Reynolds, and Chelsea Breaux walked away from the Olympics with six medals between them. 
        Martinez won a silver medal in the 200-meter run and another silver medal in the softball throw. 

        Jay Reynolds brought home a bronze medal in the 100-meter run and another bronze in the softball throw. 
        Chelsea Breax also came back with two medals winning a bronze in the 100-meter and a gold medal in the softball throw.
        Molly Hart, Laura Bowlin, Kevin Brown and Mikey Hickey competed in the Special Olympics and represented FHS.
        Kevin Brown ran the 100-meter dash and competed in the softball throw, coming home with a bronze medal and a 5th place ribbon. 
        Laura Bowlin also won a bronze medal in the softball throw and a 4th place ribbon in the 100-meter run. 
        Molly Hart won a silver medal in the 100-meter and a 4th place ribbon in the softball throw. 
        Mikey Hickey came back with a silver medal in the 100-meter and a 4th place ribbon in the softball throw. 
        “These athletes trained hard for the Olympics and gave it 100 percent bringing home four medals to represent their school,” Coach Beth Lane said. “Congrats to all of the athletes! Special thanks to Coach Mavus and Coach Lyles for helping and volunteering with us, FJH cheerleaders Taylor Englehart and Kelly Thomas for volunteering and supporting our athletes and to Theresa Byrd for all of her hard work and everything she does at the Junior High.”
