At FHS,13 students have been named Commended Students in the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from FHS and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, will be presented to each of the scholastically talented seniors.

          The 13 include Deidre L. Bridges, Cullen J. Brown, Katherine A. Buckley, Kevin E. Correll, Cailey Fitzgerald, Phillip T. Flores, Christopher R. Gillespie, Melissa L. Glasgow, Catherine G. Goode, James T. Gregory, Matthew Mitchell, Christopher J. Shannon, and Collin M. Thurman.
           About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2010 competition for National Merit Scholarships, Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million who entered the 2010 competition by taking the 2008 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
