News: 2009-2010 FJH Choir Officers begin the new school year on the right note.
posted: Sept. 1, 2009

Activities by the Friendswood Junior High Choir officers are already underway for the new year. These activities include creating a social contract, hanging motivational posters, trophies, and pictures of past performances on the walls of the FJH Choir Room, and placing their handprints and signatures upon a ceiling tile. The tiles have become an annual tradition and privilege for each new group of FJH Choir Officers.

This year the Officers chose to leave their handprints on their ceiling tile instead of just a thumbprint as in past years. The interlocking design, according to the group, "symbolizes unity and support for one another and for everyone in Choir". "Ten Handprints" became a theme for this year's Officers, as a reminder that their responsibility is to serve and support their fellow singers.

After their work in the FJH Choir Room, the Officers enjoyed dinner together at Cheddar's, then an evening of arcades at Main Event. While there, they completed a team-building activity where their time, resources, and specific talents of each group member were used wisely to earn the most points from the arcade games. With the earned points, the Officers purchased "mascots" for the Choir Room to serve as mementos of their teamwork.

FJH Choir Officers are President Jenny Plackemeier, Chamber Vice President Gabrielle Ruffeno, Mustang Vice President Austin Melis, Secretary/Librarian Janae Bonnen, Historian Amanda Vernon, Social Officer Hannah Tamplain, Soprano I Section Leader Keri Palmer, Soprano II Section Leader Briann Brannon, and Alto Section Leader Regan Hughes. The FJH Choirs are directed by Melissa Smith.
