21 at FHS named Commended by National Merit 

   The 2011 National Merit Scholarship Program announced its Commended Student list for Friendswood High School. FHS has 21 Commended students.

    Commended students are being recognized for the exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying test used for program entry.
     In the nation, only 34,000 high performers are being named Commended students by the National Merit Scholarship program.

Grant Green Event CenterFlavors of Fall held at Green Event Center
  Friendswood community members came together recently to support the Friendswood Education Foundation and a special grant that will impact fourth through eighth grade physical education classes. The first 30 citizens who donated $200 toward the grant were then invited to participate in Flavors of Fall, Oct. 17 at the Green Event Center in Friendswood.  More ≥≥

FHS AD team takes second place at invitational
     Friendswood High School sent 20 potential Decathletes to Rockwall recently to compete in their Invitational.
     FHS students performed well in the face of tough competition and taking seven consecutive tests.
             The FHS team won 36 top five awards and 5 first place top scores.  Team members include >>
ClinefestClinefest a success story
  Clinefest is the annual fundraiser for Cline Elementary. Galaxy of Giving was this year's theme for the event and a great way to exclaim how big the giving actually was. Each year the event grows both in attendance and in collections. With budgets being stretched and state funding continuing to decrease, it is events like Clinefest that help an elementary campus get what it needs when the budget can no longer do so.

Basketball
Support Friendswood Boys Basketball
   The FHS boys basketball program will be working as car hops at the Friendswood Sonic (806 S. Friendswood Drive) from 10:30 - 3:00 on Saturday, October 30.    
   All tips the boys earn will be used to support the boys basketball program.
Golf HatFHS Golf Team Selling Hats

The FHS Golf team is selling Titleist Golf hats for the remainder of the year.  They are white with royal blue stitching and have the Mustang logo (see photo).  These caps are professional quality and sell for $25.  Get yours at the November 4th football game or contact Cindy Hayford at 832-443-0926.   Proceeds benefit the FHS golf team.
