“Pencil to the paper! Let’s Write! Write!”
The cheer could be heard throughout Bales Intermediate each morning as fourth graders gathered in the Ranch House. During the week of February 21-25, the library and both fourth grade pods were transformed into a western setting where students enjoyed a week of exciting activities intended to review writing techniques in preparation for the TAKS Writing test. During morning sessions in the Ranch House, campers recited the camp pledge and sang some camp songs. FHS cheerleaders taught students the camp cheer and special invited guests told stories and read books to the group. During afternoon Campsite Gatherings in the Corrals students participated in lessons in TAKS writing skills, then reported to their assigned Bunkhouses for each day’s writing assignment. To end each day, the students gathered once again in the Ranch House for closing activities. The week culminated on Friday afternoon with 13 campers reading one of their own stories to the entire group.
