FHS tennis team members are advancing in play after District 24 4A tournament for varsity tennis, held April 6-7 at Friendswood High School.  The top two finishers in each division qualify for the Region 3 4A tournament to be held at the Blythe Caffee Tennis Center in Willis on April 18-19.
            In Boys Singles doubles semifinals, Friendswood’s Cody Westphal/Erik Linde defeated Taylor Hayes/Matt Steinbach (TC) 6-2, 6-4. Matt Kibikas/Conner Callaway (FW) defeated Bobby Blanchard/Cody Blanchard (Daw) 6-2, 7-5.
           In the Finals, Westphal/Linde came in first with Kibikas/Callaway in second place.
             In Girls Singles semifinals, Lindsey Watson (FW) defeated Rori Rupp (Ball) 6-1, 6-2. And Brittany Vu (FW) defeated Thao Do (Ball) 6-0, 6-0.
            In the Finals, Watson placed first with Vu in second place.
In Girls Doubles semifinals, Sarah Westphal/Katie Purdum FW defeated Alex Brown/Ari Brown (Ball) 7-6, 6-3 and Kaitlyn Vu/Hannah Brown FW defeated Brooke Baker/Alyssa Sauceda TC 6-0, 6-1.
           In the Finals, K Vu/Brown was awarded first place with Westphal/Purdum in second.
             In Mixed Doubles semifinals, JoAnn Karam/Kent Tollette FW defeated Lawren Bledsoe/Jacob Arriaga (Santa Fe) 6-0, 6-1.  Tyler White/Kelsey Young FW defeated Chelsea Pitts/Greg Guthrie (Dawson) 7-5, 5-7, 6-3.
           In the finals, first place was awarded to Karam/Tollette of Friendswood with second place going to White/Young.
            In team points, Boys Tennis and Girls Tennis both placed first.
