For about three weeks Bales 5th graders have been learning how the United States economy works.
Once armed with knowledge, the students were able to be part of Biz Town, a Junior Achievement mock city where students use their new information to be part of running a city for a day.
They set up bank accounts, wrote checks, interviewed for jobs, had business meetings and paid bills. They put their hard work and what they learned to the test by actually running a mock city for the day.
“It was a huge success!! Everyone had a wonderful time. Some of the comments that made were ‘ That was the best day ever!’ and ‘I now understand why my parents say give me 10 minutes when they get home,’” Principal Joel Hannemann said. |
