Spin City, I’m With Her, Entourage, Eastbound and Down, Land of the Lost, The Goods, The Virginity Hit and The Other Guys….all popular television shows and all written and produced by Friendswood High School graduate Chris Henchy.
Henchy is being honored as one of the 2011 Distinguished Alumni for FISD.
From the Class of 1982, Henchy is currently residing in both Los Angeles and New York City, with his wife Brooke Shields and daughters Rowan, age 7 and Grier, age 4.
He currently runs a production company, Gary Sanchez Productions with actor Will Ferrell and director Adam McKay.
After graduation in 1982, Henchy studied at the University of New Mexico from which he received his BS in Finance.
Henchy remembers Friendswood fondly and has kept up with many of the great friends he made during his high school years. He thanks his friend Dirk Moore for shaping his sense of humor. He looks back on events in FHS with a smile and remembers the quality of the faculty.
“I really loved my classes in English,” Henchy said. “FHS had great teachers. I think it has a lot to do with why I’m a writer now.”
In high school, he was active in Journalism and a member of the Yearbook staff.
As an adult, he is active in his community. He works with the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital, PS Arts Festival and the John Varvatos Stuart House to benefit child victims of sexual abuse.
Henchy is one of the six 2011 Distinguished Alumni who will be honored Feb. 11 at a special reception at FHS at 7 pm. The six will also be recognized at the Havana Blues Gala sponsored by the Friendswood ISD Education Foundation.
The other five Distinguished Alumni include Tanna Bennett (Class of 1980), Lisa Camp (Class of 1979), Kim Reed (Class of 1975), Carol Cline Vaughn (Class of 1945), and Honorary Alumna Joycina Baker.
