News: FHS Choir Director to serve on TMEA board
posted: March 7, 2011

FHS Choir Director Janwin Overstreet-Goode has been elected to the position of Vocal Division Vice President of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA).
TMEA is an association of more than 10,000 music educators in Texas whose goal is to promote music education as an integral part of a child’s total education.
Overstreet-Goode will serve a two year term until February 2013. During this time, she will serve the thousands of choir teachers throughout the state by overseeing the various levels of TMEA auditions, which culminate in membership in the three All-State Choirs.
She is also charged with planning the Vocal Division program for the annual Clinic Convention each February and serving on the eight-member Executive Board.
The office of Vice President carries with it significant responsibility and honor.
“We are very proud to have Janwin on our Executive Board,” TMEA Executive Director Robert Floyd said. “She brings to our organization a wealth of wisdom and resources and she is making a positive impact on music education in Texas.”
